Quiet 40 mm fan with FDB bearing

AABCOOLING Super Silent R4 is a quiet 40 × 40 × 20 mm fan with seven dynamically profiled blades that deliver smooth, quiet operation and good performance. It runs at a fixed speed of 3200 rpm (±10%) and delivers an airflow of 7.35 m³/h at a noise level of just 12.9 dB(A).

Quiet operation is ensured by a modern FDB (Fluid Dynamic Bearing) with a service life of 100,000 hours – much longer than sleeve bearings. The package includes mounting screws, anti-vibration pads and a 12 V / 9 V power adapter that lowers the speed and noise.

Advantages of the FDB bearing

Ordinary sleeve bearings rub against each other and heat up during operation, which shortens their service life. An FDB bearing offers:

• no friction between bearing parts and a longer service life,
• vibration damping by the oil,
• low noise – practically only the fan blades generate it,
• protection against oil leakage,
• even lubrication thanks to the spiral oil filling,
• a proven design – such bearings are also used in hard drives.

Applications

Its compact 40 × 40 × 20 mm dimensions let you install the fan where space is tight. AABCOOLING Super Silent R4 is ideal for cooling:

• small CPU or chipset heatsinks – as a quiet replacement for a noisy fan,
• consumer electronics and home appliances, e.g. set-top boxes, tuners and amplifiers,
• electronics enclosed in small housings, e.g. switches, routers and power converters.

Installation and connection

The fan is mounted with four screws (hole spacing 32.5 × 32.5 mm). This lets you quickly and easily replace a noisy fan with a quieter one.

Ways to connect the fan:

• connect the fan to a 3-pin header on the motherboard (the cable is 30 cm long) – you can then read the fan speed in the BIOS,
• cut off or disassemble the 3-pin plug and connect the fan directly to the device's power supply – only the black (ground, −) and red (+) wires are needed; the yellow wire carries the speed signal and is not required in this case. Cutting off or disassembling the plug excludes the possibility of returning the product.
